Preparing your students for Cambridge ESOL YLE, KET & PET speaking examinations (4 hours)

An area of concern for students and learners is the speaking component of the Cambridge ESOL examinations. This workshop aims to reassure teachers that through simple and fun preparation in the classroom, learners can easily be prepared so that they perform well on the day of the exam. We will look at how learners are assessed, observe some sample interviews, and apply general assessment criteria. Furthermore, teachers will go away with a selection of activities which focus on building learners’ confidence in speaking.

Building vocabulary (2 hours)

Teachers are often concerned that their students’ vocabulary range is limited. In this workshop we will discuss the importance of acquiring a wide and appropriate lexical range, and look at how this can be done both inside and outside the classroom. There will be ample opportunity to try out different techniques and activities for making teaching and learning vocabulary more effective.

Heutzutage gehören Medien, insbesondere Filme, zum Alltag von Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen. Daher ist es motivierend, Filme im DaF-Unterricht einzusetzen. Dieses Seminar soll zum Kennenlernen geeigneter Materialien des Hueber Verlags und methodisch-didaktischer Kriterien für die Arbeit mit Film im Sekundar und/oder Erwachsenenbereich dienen.
